The Caped Crusader strikes a trademark pose atop the
Gotham City skyline as he searches for that felonious
feline, Catwoman. This hand-painted cel is one of the
Classic superhero series from Warner Bros. first
released in the Warner Bros. Studio Stores in 1998.
Batman’s character first appeared in Detective
Comics #27 in 1939. Created by Bob Kane, Batman’s original
intent was that of pulp fiction hero who was involved in
the solving of murders.
This image of Batman was adapted from the Batman cartoon
series, and the Emmy Award-winning design created by
series producer Bruce Timm. Also known as Bruce Wayne,
Batman came about for Wayne as he was startled by a bat
outside his window. From there, he conceived of the idea to
dress like a bat in order to strike fear in the villains
he pursued.
