Pinocchio -
Courvoisier Portrait Suite
|
|
Guthrie Courvoisier created the idea of combining Disney's production cels with specially created backgrounds, often in wood veneer or air brush, to create a complete work of art to sell in his galleries. In the late 1930's, Disney actually employed twenty people to prepare the animation art for the Courvoisier Galleries. With the release of Pinocchio in 1940, Courvoisier assumed total responsibility for preparing the art for sale. The typical presentation for many Courvoisier setups of Pinocchio artwork included the subtle backgrounds and circular mat.
This important release is a significant
collector opportunity created for Pinocchio collectors,
simultaneously celebrating the significant contribution in
art history which Guthrie Courvoisier made, and the
opportunity to own these wonderful tributes to Pinocchio's
characters at such a modest price.
